Elation - The Evolution of Stage Lighting - Pro Lighting's ability to transform the stage has never been better— and the future is bright.1950s - Incandescent lights begin
to use metallic tungsten filaments rather than carbon. Electronic dimming technology is invented, including the debut of analog dimming systems like 0-10V.60s and 70s Incandescent lamps begin using Halogen for brighter output and consistent color temperature. Punch card memory systems and LEDs are invented. The IEC 60529 standard, defining an IP rating system for electrical enclosures and fixtures, is first published. The first automated moving light, the Automated Color Lantern (ACL), is introduced.1980s The DMX-512 protocol establishes the first universal standard. Digital memory becomes available, allowing lighting consoles to store a full show. Color scrollers and HID lamps enter the scene.90s-'00s High-intensity discharge (HID) and short arc lamps transform stage lighting with powerful, compact fixtures capable of illuminating large venues. Ellipsoidal reflector spotlights are greatly improved, with enhanced optics and features that reduce the risk of burns. Networked protocols like Art-Net enable synchronized lighting control. Integration with video and audio effects creates immersive, multi-sensory experiences. Digital consoles offer touchscreens to further enhance control over complex lighting. LEDs are now able to produce 2010s The LED revolution introduces energy-efficient fixtures that offer versatile color options. LEDs become the primary entertainment light source.2020 Intelligent lighting systems enable immersive, interactive experiences through seamless integration of light, video, and effects. Lighting systems begin incorporating AI to sync real-time audio with engaging effects.2024 Elation releases the Paragon.
